The 1st Carbon Neutral Hydraulic Quick Coupler

The 1st Carbon Neutral Hydraulic Quick Coupler

In a significant leap towards sustainability and environmental consciousness, we are proud to unveil the world's first carbon neutral hydraulic quick coupler for mini diggers and excavators. This ground-breaking achievement not only demonstrates our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint but also sets a new standard for the construction industry as a whole.

We have partnered with Environmental Strategies Ltd, a leading environmental consultancy, and Net Zero Group, a leading carbon offset business, to assess and authenticate our energy carbon footprint produced during the designing, manufacturing and transportation of our range of hydraulic quick couplers.

To offset the carbon produced through these processes, we have invested in the Salto Pilão Hydropower Plant project located in the state of Santa Catarina, South Region of Brazil. This project aims to support the rise in electricity demand in Brazil and increase the production of renewable energy across the globe. Through our investment in this project, Rhinox is actively promoting the shift toward a low-carbon economy and playing a role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

A Greener Future: Carbon Neutrality in Construction

The construction industry has long been associated with environmental concerns, given its substantial energy consumption and emissions. However, Rhinox is spearheading a new era by unveiling a hydraulic quick coupler that not only boasts advanced functionality but is also environmentally responsible. The decision to make our coupler fully carbon neutral is a testament to our dedication to creating a sustainable and eco-friendly future.

Investing in Clean Energy: Salto Pilão Hydropower Plant

Where is the Salto Pilao Hydropower Plant?

To achieve the status of carbon neutrality and the world's first carbon neutral hydraulic quick coupler, Rhinox has offset the carbon produced during the designing, manufacturing and transportation processes of the coupler range. This has been achieved by investing in the Salto Pilão Hydropower Plant.

The Salto Pilão Hydropower Plant project is located between the cities of Lontras, Ibirama, and Apiúna in the state of Santa Catarina, South Region of Brazil. The primary purpose of the hydropower plant is to help meet Brazil’s rising demand for energy and improve the supply of electricity, all while contributing to environmental, social, and economic sustainability.

The project is estimated to reduce the total annual emissions by 186,810 tCo2e (tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent). This is equal to 41,571 gasoline-powered passenger vehicles driving for one year; the energy used by 23,544 homes in one year or Rhinox manufacturing and delivering around 218,000 hydraulic quick couplers. In the absence of this project, electricity generation would rely on grid-connected power plants using fossil fuels, resulting in the inevitable release of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Alongside this phenomenal change, the Salto Pilão Hydropower Plant project has had a significant impact on other social and economic developments in the local area, such as the creation of around 1,000 jobs during the construction phase of the hydropower plant and increasing the economic stability by increasing the share of renewable energy consumed by Brazil.

By supporting the Salto Pilão Hydropower Plant, Rhinox contributes to the production of clean and renewable energy. This investment not only compensates for the emissions generated by our hydraulic quick coupler range, but also promotes the growth of sustainable energy initiatives across the world, fostering a greener and cleaner future globally.

Alongside our carbon neutral hydraulic couplers, we are taking continuous actions towards reducing our overall environmental impact, such as offsetting our carbon for 2023 and being more conscientious with our manufacturing and packing processes. Our long-standing customers will know that our smaller parcels are delivered in cardboard boxes, packed out using shredded, recycled cardboard which we acquire from a local community shop. As well as, our biodegradable pallet wrap that secure our large parcels and our use of electric vehicles where possible. We hope that our actions will inspire other companies in our industry to take similar steps towards improving their environmental impact.
