Digger Clay Spades - The Wet Ground Bucket

Digger Clay Spades - The Wet Ground Bucket

What is a Digger Clay Spade?

An excavator clay spade is a specialised digger attachment designed for working in sticky or wet ground, such as clay or mud. Unlike a standard digging bucket, a clay spade bucket has no sides. Why the open-sided design? If you've ever tried digging in thick, wet or sticky material, you know the frustration of a clogged bucket - it’s nearly impossible to clear without leaving the cab to dig it out manually. To solve this problem, we developed the open-sided clay spade. It retains the functionality of a digging bucket while preventing clogging, saving you time and effort on the job.

Why don't Rhinox Clay Spades have teeth?

During development and testing, we found that having teeth on a clay spade can cause more issues than it's worth. The teeth, obviously, stick out beyond the spade edge and tend to get stuck in the material that you're digging through - which can cause the attachment or digger to become damaged if pushed too far. So, we manufacture our clay spade with a flat, blade edge. This means that when you drag the attachment through the ground, it shaves off the surface material, rather than digging in and getting stuck.

Features of the Rhinox Clay Spade:

Heat Map of the High Stress Points of a Clay Spade

Heavy Duty Side Plates -

The open-sided design of the excavator clay spade can create potential weak spots in the attachment. By analysing the stress points and load distribution with advanced design software, we have been able to accurately identifying excatly where all of the potential weak points are and reinforce these areas with stronger, thicker steel to ensure strength and durability in these areas. These reinforcements not only strength the clay spades weak points but also reinforce the entire attachment, making it more resilient under heavy-duty use and in challenging conditions, like thick mud or clay.

Bucket Hooks -

Like all Rhinox digging buckets in our attachments range, our the Rhinox clay spade is equipped with transportation bucket hooks, which are built into the hangers. This design feature allows you to quickly and safely transport multiple attachments at once. Using the edge of your grading bucket to hook underneath these built-in hooks, you can securely lift and move additional buckets without the need to unevenly stacking them inside each other. This not only saves time and effort on-site but also improves overall safety by reducing the risk of mishandling or dropping buckets during transport. Learn more about Rhinox bucket hooks.
