What is an EORI number?
EORI Number is an abbreviation for Economic Operators Registration and Identification Number
An EORI Number is a requirement by the Government, from you, if you are a business moving goods between Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands. This means moving goods to and from any of these locations. If the shipment is for personal use only, you will not need to obtain an EORI Number but you are able to if you desire one.
When will you need your EORI Number?
You will need your EORI Number when you're making arrangements that effect customs. For example: making customs declarations, using customs systems (such as CHIEF or Import Control System Northern Ireland) or appointing somebody else to deal with customs on behalf of you when you're importing to or exporting from a location mentioned above.
As Rhinox organise the dispatch and delivery of your excavator / digger buckets and attachments, we are appointed to deal with customs on behalf of you which will require us to provide your EORI Number in order to process your order and deliver it to your desired location, which is why we will require your EORI Number when you purchase from us.
Can you ship without an EORI Number?
Without your EORI Number, you won't be able to import or export your goods. Your EORI Number enables your shipments to pass through the customs systems and without your number your shipment will become stuck at customs and won't be able to clear. This can cause significant delays and you may also incur expensive storage fees while the issues are resolved. If you require more information about EORI Numbers and how to apply for one, visit the government website here.
