Rhinox Colour Coding & Fleet ID Options

How do you stop digger buckets being mixed up on site? If you own a plant hire company or work on sites with multiple excavators, then you'll probably understand the problem of returning from site with the incorrect buckets and attachments for your machine. You may have had experience with one of your team going to collect a digger and the buckets brought back aren't yours. The worst part is, the buckets that are returned to you are probably in worse condition than the ones that you sent, or they might even be the wrong size buckets for that machine entirely! We understand this problem and can offer a couple of simple solutions to help make your bucket and attachment management easier! Join us as we explore the best solutions...Don't want to read on? Option 1: Coloured Buckets

Opting for customised paint is the most popular method of distinguishing your excavator buckets and attachments. While many manufacturers provide their attachments in a standard black paint, Rhinox offers the flexibility to paint them in any colour of your preference. By deviating from the industry norm of black, your equipment becomes instantly recognisable on site. For instance, painting them in a vibrant red leads to easy identification by you, your team or your customers, distinguishing your attachments from others. The likelihood of retrieving the correct buckets promptly increases, streamlining your bucket management and eliminating the hassle of dealing with mismatched equipment.

You might wonder, "Why draw attention to them? Wouldn't that make them more susceptible to theft?" Surprisingly, it's quite the opposite. The distinctively painted buckets and attachments are quickly identifiable, making it easier to spot which ones belong to you. This also makes them much more difficult to conceal, acting as a deterrent against theft.

What is the best colour to choose?

All of the paint colours that Rhinox use perform to the same standard so choosing your colour based on longevity isn't necessary. All colour coding options are available for painting the whole bucket or just the bucket hangers. Check out our 4 most popular colour coding options below:

Orbital Group - Red Buckets on Kubota Mini Excavators

1. By Machine Size

For example: 0.75 ton - Red, 1.5 ton - Blue, 3 ton - Green and so on...

This is especially useful if you have a larger fleet of excavators of varying sizes. Colour coding by excavator size makes organising your buckets and attachment in the yard much easier, as you can tell from a quick glance which buckets belong to which size range of machine, saving time on hunting for the correct size.

Lister Wilder Orange Buckets for a U27-4

2. By Machine Make and Model

For example: Paint your Kubota U17 buckets black & Kubota U27 orange.

This is a better option for smaller hire companies or an owner operator with a smaller selection of diggers. Colour coding by make and model will make it much easier for you to identify at a glance which buckets fit which machine. Time is money so keeping your organisation time to a minimum allows you to get back to work as soon as possible!

Bethell Group Excavators fitted with Blue Rhinox buckets to match company branding

3. By Company Branding

For example: Red logo, red buckets. Blue logo, blue buckets.

If consistency and brand is important to you and your business, colour coding your buckets and attachments to your company branding is a popular option. Applying this level of detail throughout your business creates a layer of professionalism and implies to customers that you perform to the highest standard!

Parkway Plant Sales Test Excavator - Takeuchi with Red Matching Buckets

4. By Excavator Colour

For example: Paint your attachments red to match a Takeuchi excavator.

This is probably more suited to owner operators or one-man-bands who would like to add a layer of professionalism and finesse to their excavators. Colour coding to your excavator makes you machine look like the complete package and gives the impression that you take pride in your work!

Option 2: Fleeting Numbering / Custom Badges

Another easy method for managing your excavator buckets and attachments is by utilising custom fleet numbering or badges. Custom identification involves assigning a unique combination of numbers and letters or a personalised badge to your equipment, indicating ownership. When your excavator and attachments are being collected or returned from a job, you can easily spot the badge or code to verify ownership and ensure they are paired correctly with the corresponding machine. This streamlined process minimises processing times, enabling you to swiftly deploy your equipment for the next job and minimise machine downtime.

A custom code helps you and your company to identify the machine that the bucket and attachments are designed to fit. When deciding a code, numbers or letters that are easily identifiable by the company such as the company name or initials is recommended. If you have a large fleet of excavators, a code that includes numbers can be useful to assign specific attachments to that machine for easy management when on a site or during management and storage in the yard.

What are the Rhinox Fleet ID Options?

The process of custom IDs entails you, or your company, supplying us with a custom code, which we will then weld onto your buckets and attachments. If you would prefer a custom badge, our team can work with you to design this. Typically, we suggest that the code bears relevance to your company, facilitating easy identification by you or your customers. This could range from incorporating your company name or initials to indicating the size of the bucket or the machine it's intended for.

Our fleet ID service comes at a small additional fee. If you would like more information or receive a quote, don't hesitate to reach out to us and we'll be happy to work with you on this!
