Band of Builders: Stevie's Story (Video)

'Band of Builders' is an incredible charity made up of both current and retired tradespeople who unite their skills to help others in need. Whether it’s repairing a roof, remodelling a home or redesigning a garden, their mission is to make a real difference.

In this project, we follow the transformation of a garden for 15-year-old Stevie and her family. Stevie is living with Batten disease - a rare, life-limiting degenerative condition that affects fewer than 200 children and young people in the UK. The illness has already taken her sight and is now affecting her memory, speech and mobility.

To help kick-start the garden transformation, Rhinox donated a rake riddle bucket, which was paired with a Jewson’s mini digger to clear away the overgrowth and separate debris from the topsoil. The tool also left perfect tine lines in the soil, creating an ideal base for turfing.

Despite everything she’s facing, Stevie has always loved being outdoors. Thanks to the incredible efforts of Band of Builders, she now has a safe, accessible and calming garden to enjoy with her family.
