Specialist V-Buckets supporting Triton Knoll Off-Shore Windfarm Cable Install

Rhinox Group have been pleased to offer support to J Murphy & Sons on the Triton Knoll cable installation by designing and producing 8x specialist Trapezoidal V-buckets for use on 35 ton excavators.

Rhinox engineering teams were contacted by Murphy's to see if we could assist with the design and manufacture of these buckets in line with project engineers specifications to allow for precise digging of a trench for running the electricity cables in.

Triton Knoll Cable Route

Cables are being run from Huttoft, north of Skegness, over 60km down to Bicker Fen substation.

All cables are being laid in CBS (concrete bonded sand), and the precise dimensions of the bucket are critical to ensure that there is no excess material used in the trench.

Specially Engineered V-buckets in production at Rhinox Group

The second critical feature of the V-buckets is the precise angle of 'v' part of the bucket.  Ground engineering experts took soil samples along the route of the dig, and established an optimum angle for the side of the trench so that shoring didn't have to be used, and the sides of the trench remained stable.

All these critical points were taken account of by the Rhinox engineering teams, and a specialist design was produced to meet these requirements.

Rhinox Group then produced these buckets in our in-house production facility completing the full order some 4 weeks ahead of schedule.
